I’ve been a Beachbody coach for 10 years this month. Wow! That’s a long time. I started out with p90X at a time I was teaching Spinning and Pilates at my gym. I also used a personal trainer and my diet was what many would consider to be excellent. I was in good shape.
But I was hungry for more. I was over forty and finally finding my inner athlete. The infomercial for p90X is the ONLY infomercial I had ever and have ever bought from. They didn’t say it was easy. They said it was hard work. THAT sounded like honesty. Those really were real people who got real results. I know, because I eventually met many of them.
My goal was to set a good example for my children. I wanted them to see their mom demonstrate discipline and patience and pick herself up when she didn’t succeed at first. My goals evolved as my Beachbody coaching evolved but those basic reasons are still in place, I just want to demonstrate this for my coaching clients as well.
I wanted to be the best coach I could be. I also was frustrated by there being an enormous amount of contradictory information and didn’t always know how to make sense of that. While I certainly still don’t have all the answers, I’m better at it now. I have found that one of the things I value most in life is continual learning and improvement. So over the years I’ve picked up a fair number of certifications.
I’ve never left Beachbody, but I did let my business slide when we had several dramatic issues happen at home. We dealt with Alzheimer’s at home as well as several other real life issues that happened simultaneously. Beachbody also went from a company that felt like a family to a giant, multi-national business. There are a LOT of people that we can help. But I missed my small, comfortable family at a time the rest of my life was not in my control. I didn’t have a lot of time to devote to daily coaching. But I still always had my Beachbody workouts and I always had Shakeology to provide one healthy meal even if that was the best I could do.
As my purpose changed from wife, mother and Beachbody coach to caregiver, mother, wife, I found Gabby Bernstein purely by chance. I read her books and took her courses. I found a new world opened up for me. I could respond rather than react. I began to return to a more loving place rather than living in fear all the time.
I kept at Beachbody but that wasn’t my main job at that point. I thought about quitting. But that wasn’t me. I also know these programs work and that I believe deeply in these programs and the company. My timing was simply bad. I also trusted what I was learning from my spirit junkie work with Gabby and that I needed to follow my instincts.
We loved my mother-in-law through Alzheimer’s. As dreadful as that was, I would take her into our home all over again. Watching that disease kill her while she was still healthy set me on a path to learn more. I am now certified holistic health coach trained by the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. I’ve done their advanced coaching certification as well as currently taking their gut course. This one is GOOD. I’ve just finished Get Gutsy Coach Training school with Jenny Fenig but haven’t yet taken her test. I have a year before that is due. I’m now a certified yoga teacher (RYT-200) and an NASM-personal trainer. And I’ve been personally trained by Gabby Bernstein of Spirit Junkie fame to teach her principles.
Most recently I’ve added more trainings and more skills and have been working hard on living and teaching how to live my best, healthiest, boldest, biggest life, even through the hard parts, the messy parts and even when I just plan old feel unmotivated.
This page is about Beachbody and what I can offer you through this great company. You may need help weeding through what the proper program is for you and be fine by yourself after that. But if you want more, as a Beachbody coach I can offer you my experience, how I’ve overcome difficulties or modified programs, help you with the nutrition piece of this and overall, to hold space for you as part of a community of people with similar goals. Often we learn from each other in a way that is magical. The accountability piece is priceless as well.
